Liberty Stadium

Are you in Ibadan Oyo state and you are looking for a place to enroll your kids to learn karate's 🥋 or any sport of their choice, then the Liberty Stadium is a place to go check that out. It is located at liberty road ring road in Ibadan Oyo State.

The Stadium was created in 1960 which happens to be when Nigeria became independent. As a memorial of that event, the regional prime minister then Chief Obafemi Awolowo named it Liberty Stadium but, it was renamed after the Prime minister as the Obafemi Awolowo's stadium by the then President Goodluck E Jonathan. He was inspired after paying a visit to the widow (the wife of the late Awolowo) Chief Hannah Awolowo in 2010. For easy navigation, I would advise you call the place liberty stadium so one could get easy direction.

Apart from the main standard football Pitch of 25,00 seating capacity,  it also host, a standard swimming pool, Tennis Court, volleyball court, handball court, hockey pitch, basketball court etc.

There are other places one could visit to get martial arts skills but the heart of sporting activities happens at the stadium. Hangout Nigeria tells of places one could build good social network and working out is an activity that brings people together. If you want to be with people who likes to keep fit, I could tell of other exciting gym centre, but liberty stadium would be top on the list because of its historical background.

In 1963, it hosted the first ever world boxing  title fight in Africa, between Nigerian Dick Tiger and American Gene Fullmer. In 1980, it hosted notable Soccer matches in the African cup of Nations including the semi final games between Egypt and Algeria. The stadium among other stadium was selected to host the FIFA world youth championship. One could go on and on to show that the stadium has got international recognition.

Try to pick a day to hangout there, you be rest assured that, you wouldn't leave there without meeting someone new irrespective of the time in the week you visit. Please leave a comment or follow the blog to know more places you could hangout in Nigeria, you don't need dull moment anywhere you are in Nigeria with Hangout Nigeria.
