Twenty Five Days to Christmas

Image
It is another beautiful Sunday morning in the city of Ibadan Oyo state. I have already started seeing Christmas trees decorated with Christmas lights and the Christmas jingles all in preparation for the Christmas holiday. One song which is common about the Christmas songs is “Joy to the world”. In my part of the world prior before an online mall introduced Black Friday; this season is always know to be expensive. I guess it’s caused by demand pull inflation. Everyone wants new clothes, wants to buy food to entertain guest etc and the price of commodities skyrockets. When the song “Joy to the world” start playing, many start growing anxious, thinking of how they would meet up for Xmas and what people would say if they refuse to bring something worthwhile for Christmas; so birth the increase of crime. I would like to proffer three (3) tips to having a merry Christmas:  Good planning: If one really wants to have a great Christmas, it is not too early to start your Christma...

IBENO BEACH

It is almost one of the most important period of the year which is the approach of one of the biggest holiday in the world and that is Christmas. Even my 6years old niece could guess I was talking about Christmas. Many offices are planning the end of the year party and are encouraging exchange of gifts  in the spirit of Christmas. The town of Calabar those years starts to party from the first of December put up lots of free event to create the fun expected during Christmas. Don’t be the “Grinch” the enemy of  the season. Everyone pride in Calabar as the best in tourism and the city that organizes the biggest street carnival in Nigeria. We always want to spend the Christmas holiday in Calabar. But one could decide to add to the excitement by visiting a neighboring state close to Calabar called Akwa Ibom state. The state was together with Cross River before the break way guess they are less than 40 years as a state. People till date still find it difficult to make a dif...

Hangout and Advertising

Image
Advertising is one of the major spice or Ingredients of a hangout spot. Without advertisement, a fun spot could just taste like a meal without salt. For couple of weeks now, we had been discussing cool places to chill in Ibadan. But you might be a little disappointed if you go there when it’s a bit scanty but places like the Agodi Gardens having big brand names operating in the garden is not always scanty because folks want to go there for the names and the uninterrupted fun they provide on the regular. The amusement park lacks some level of  maintenance as at last week, even the staffs said their generator had knocked a longtime ago. Now imagine you or your children on a Mary go round depend on PHCN to go for a joy ride. For those not staying in Ibadan, you could only imagine the state of electricity to go on that ride with your children. A park (according my view) should seeks to bring out the child in someone and maybe give one an opportunity to bond with ones childr...

Trans Amusement Park Bodija Ibadan

Good morning and welcome to another Friday morning on hangout 9ja. We are still in the city of Ibadan and the location right now is to park. If you’re a good follower of our post, you would know we already talked about OPay in Ibadan. Guess it also operate in Lagos. All you have to do is get on your mobile phone (Android or IOS device) and search for OPay. It’s a prepaid service but must of the ORide bikers are agent of the service so when you call a bike or tricycle to your destination, you’re sure you’ll get your locomotion purse refilled with to move around the city. Merry go round is one of the biggest  fun of park outside the roller coaster (my opinion). Most of the parks have attended, the merry go round are always in a bad shape but one could be lucky to enjoy the one at Ibadan. If one is looking for a thing to bring out the child  in a person, then enjoy the fun robots. Don’t every make the mistake of going to park all by yourself. Learn to go wi...

Agodi Garden

Image
The best place to enjoy wildlife in Nigeria is in Ibadan. May not be like the east Africa safari but we have lions scattered all around the city. Though it’s the biggest city in west Africa (in Land mass). As we said in the last post about University of Ibadan zoo garden, Agodi garden also have a record of a lion killing humans. A lion killed a man who he’s know by his alias, baba olorunwa which lead to it’s shutdown. But now it’s up and running in a big way. Agodi garden also called Agodi botanical garden (city with one of the first generation university must sound academic) existed since 1967. It was first called Agodi zoology and botanical garden divided into sections for adult and children. It is a 150 acre land for picnic and tourism.  One good thing about Ibadan is the technology of OPay. When you find yourself in Ibadan, and you want to locate a place, all you need to do is get on your mobile phone. Download the app called OPay. It’s available on android and iOS...

University of Ibadan Zoo Garden

Image
University of Ibadan zoo garden is also called university of Ibadan zoology garden. Establish in 1948 for research. But primarily as a menagerie (where wild animals are kept in captivity for exhibition). It is of cause located in University of Ibadan. If you fly down to Ibadan from Abuja, as our custom is, to direct hangout folks from Abuja where to chill in Nigeria. Luckily, tomorrow the 11th of November is a public holiday in Nigeria called Mawlid. It’s an Islamic holiday to celebrate the the birthday of prophet Muhammad the last prophet of Allah (God) according to them. So 9th and 11th of November is given as a public holiday. Today actually being 9th and we know majority of workers in Nigeria don’t go to work during the weekend. So one could plan the trip to visit the Zoo garden this holiday. Well I was there today. Going from the Capital city of Nigeria (FCT) to Ibadan would take approximately an hour five minutes. One could check online for a cheap airline but try and go with...
