IBENO BEACH

It is almost one of the most important period of the year which is the approach of one of the biggest holiday in the world and that is Christmas. Even my 6years old niece could guess I was talking about Christmas. Many offices are planning the end of the year party and are encouraging exchange of gifts  in the spirit of Christmas. The town of Calabar those years starts to party from the first of December put up lots of free event to create the fun expected during Christmas. Don’t be the “Grinch” the enemy of  the season.

Everyone pride in Calabar as the best in tourism and the city that organizes the biggest street carnival in Nigeria. We always want to spend the Christmas holiday in Calabar. But one could decide to add to the excitement by visiting a neighboring state close to Calabar called Akwa Ibom state. The state was together with Cross River before the break way guess they are less than 40 years as a state. People till date still find it difficult to make a difference between a Calabar man and an Akwa Ibom man. The language sounds a little similar. The Calabar man speaks Efiki while the Akwa Ibom man speaks Ibibio. Both states have lots of languages but just trying to point to the similarities that sometimes wants to look confusing.

Ibeno beach is located in Ibeno local government of Akwa Ibom state. It is the longest sand beach in west Africa. It is one of the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re new to this blog, we start our destination from Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport  Abuja. The nations (Nigeria) capital this time our destination is Akwa Ibom State. I don’t want to be exact with figures but aero contractors would take one to the state. One would land at the state capital in Uyo. Traveling at an average speed of 70km/hr, one should get to the beach in an hour 30 minutes.

The state is blessed with crude oil, there was a report of oil spillage in 2010 but the place is still a tourist attraction. As much as one wants to get their adrenaline pumping with excitement, please one needs to play safe on the beach. One could start by taking some swimming classes and this is not for the purpose of swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Guess by doing that, it could reduce ones phobia for Ocean.  kids are expected to be watched closely as they play on the sands and if you’re single and always ready to mingle. You could be lucky to experience the Calabar love you might have been hearing or I only heard it. Fun doesn’t end in a particular state.
